New Seasons Bible Study

The New Seasons bible study class has been invloved in a study of the Old Testament since April 2008. This study has proved challenging but very rewarding as we have continued our journey through the book of Genesis and beyond.

Recently I asked the class to take on the challenge of writing their own Psalm. This was prompted because of the depth we have discovered in the Psalms and also because these writings are poetry and songs written from the very hearts and experiences of God's people.

I am very pleased to be able to present to you the work of those that took part in this project. I do hope you will be blest as indeed I was in reading their efforts. To God be the glory!

Blessed be the name of the lord, great things he has done.
Lord I serve you and I exalt your name.
My strength and my faith are in you.

Oh lord sometimes I failed to listen to your voice because I was stubborn.
Lord now I know that without you I am lost in this troubled world.

I am sorry Lord God for ignoring your voice when you spoke unto me
Lord help me to be patient, and to live according to your words
Help me to control my tongue
So the words that come out of my mouth
Will not hurt them but let them know I love them
Not discourage them but to encourage them.
Lord when others mock me and criticise me I pray that I will stand tall
And declare that you are Lord and ruler of my life.
Upon your foundation I shall stand and upon the rock will I rest my head.
My life is in your hands and the decisions that you make over my life final
Because you made me you made this world and everything in it
You made me to serve you and to worship your Holy name
For as long as I live you will be first in my heart
And no else can take that place Lord for it’s for you and for you alone.
When I cry out to you I know you hear my cry
And you rescue me from my trouble
When I'm in pain Lord I know that it is to help me to become stronger in you.
Lord you said that you will never leave me nor forsake me
And Lord you stayed with me through out my walk with you
Although I have many more years ahead of me
I know that you will not leave me
Because every word that comes from your mouth is true.
In life they are struggles
But when I put my trust in you I know that you will deliver me.
Glory to your name heavenly father
Let your people praise you
With songs that declare that you are Lord of Lords
May others open their eyes?
And see that you are king of kings as I give glory to your name Lord!

We are living in a very controversial age
In times of discouragement
Help me to see things from your perspective Lord
It is established that god hates sin
The greatest gift is love
calling all to believe on the name of Jesus
God gives life through Jesus
God is love and justice
And he is a jealous God
The Lord shall make his enemies his footstool
There was controversy in Jesus' day
The Lord turned the tables in the temple calling them "vipers"
People want to feel good
People are searching
We are given a free will
Our best acts are like filthy rags
The tree had to be pruned (cut down)
The branches cannot bear fruit unless
They abide in the word
The word is Jesus, King of all Kings
The name above all names
Lord you made me
Lord you know my beginning and my end
Lord you promise never to leave me or forsake me
In life's journey I have proven your work to be powerful and true
It did not return void
Your time is not my time Your ways are higher than mine
Lord you are my creator and king
Holy Holy Holy is my redeemer
Every tongue, nation and children shall sing your praises
The power of darkness shall not prevail
God allows things to happen
The sun shine on the righteous and the unrighteous
When one become successful they are proud and intoxicated with power
The old testament is our history
We are not robots God raises up people to vindicate
People can be receptive relying on feelings rather than the word of God (such as humanitarian)
Father please take these feelings away, that are crushed with emotion
Jesus I want your will to be mine
Thank you Lord for your shred blood at Calvary, giving life to all who believe
Help us to continue with our daily walk with you
Father I know that there are certain prayers you do not answer
Compromising the word is partial surrender
Disobedient acts are wilful
Lord you shall return for your saints
Lord I give you thanks because your mercies endures forever

1. Lord I come to you right now, deliver me from the wicked devices of those who would seek to set snares and lay traps against me.
2. Oh Lord, save me from the wicked hands of my enemies; in your mercies rescue me from myself and even death.
3. Do not rebuke me in your anger, your punishment and wrath is far greater than I can withstand right now; in your mercy withhold it, even then I shall still praise you in my up- rising, in my down-setting.
4. Mercy and grace covers me. In a world that seeks not to remember you. Men are proud to promote war and in their arrogance and wickedness, they exploit the poor and needy. They are proud of their evil desires, they become vain, greedy, lustful, defiant, indifferent and curse and reject you, to their own demise. Their pleasures are yet for a season, this too shall pass.
5. The Lord shows compassion even on the unrighteous. I will praise your holy name, form everlasting to everlasting, blessed be the name of the most high God.
6. My life is laden down with insecurities, have pity on me. In my despair and grief I have often sought relief.
7. Oh lord! I am tired, bruised, exhausted, worn out; life is full of bumps and knocks, only scars remain, give me strength for the remaining journey which awaits with expectancy”. Lord in my eagerness, how long oh Lord will it be before I see the break of day?
8. Let your holy spirit, which will bring healing, flow over me like a torrent that never runs dry.
9. Can I ever forget the nights, I flood my bed crying out to you sweet Lord. My pillows drenched from my weeping, my eyes sore and swollen that I can’t hardly see. You saw all this Lord; you had not closed your eyes, or turned your ears away, from out of my pain and anguish you delivered me from them all.
10. My lament and sorrow goes up before you Lord as a memorial of praises and victory for there is no defeat in our sovereign.
11. TO GOD WHO GIVES US POWER TO OVER COME, THROUGH OUR LORD AND SAVIOUR JESUS CHRIST. AMEN AND AMEN.

Oh lord sometimes I feel so bound with responsibilities I have to face
I had my life mapped out but it seems as if you had a different plan for my life
Sometimes I get so upset and wonder why me lord.
People tell me that you have a plan for my life
Why don’t you come to me and tell me lord what you have in store for me
I do not want others to tell me, I want to hear your voice;
I want to know you for myself

I try fasting but before you can blink there is something in my mouth
When I try pick up the Bible
It seems like there is a force telling me I can do it in the morning
My heart is crying out so that someone can see my hurt and pain
My thinking and the thoughts that go through my mind are not of you Lord
Sometimes I wonder if you are actually there
Seeing me go through these trials in my life

Some say that I go through these things to help someone
What about the pain and frustration I have in my heart?
How can I praise you with all these things going through my mind?

But I know lord that your thoughts are higher than my thoughts
Your ways are higher than my ways
That’s why my king I will continue to praise you
Not because of what you can do for me but because of who you are

When I think back about my life and wonder
If you did not come to redeem me where would I be?

If there were no Calvary

But lord I thank you for Calvary
And the blood that you have shed there for my sins

But at times I am weakened by life’s burdens and woes

In my distress Lord I can see your wonderful works

You were there to ensure that no one was seriously injured

Lord I feel like a mess. I'm being attacked from every angle
and I question you time and time again
Yet who am I to question you Lord
Friends raise up against me and question my faith, but I
know that God is greater than any of my troubles.
My anger and frustration builds and builds
And still you are there
To lift the weight off of my shoulders and happy to take them
on.
Lord even when my heart is full of dirt and my heart starts to stray
I call your name and you are there.
I feel so far from you Lord although you are closer than I thought.
Lord I ask that your hand will be upon me to guide me
And to help me through my trials and tribulations.
I feel as if I 'm lost and I simply ask, 'Lord where are you?'
And aren’t you meant to be helping me
But then I realise that your thoughts are higher than my thoughts
And that your ways are hgher than my ways
Sometimes I feel like I'm in the wrong place at the wrong time
And if I don 't get out it will be the end
But you were there to save me, for my God is able to save
So I glorify thee because of your wondrous and miraculous ways
And most importantly because of who you are
Hallelujah for my Lord God almghty regns
Praise the Lord for he has never failed me yet

Father, I praise, worship and adore you
Your mercy is great, your grace is never-ending, your love is overwhelming
And I thank you for my blessings
Through it all you have been there
You have upheld me by your right hand
Lord you have called me, you have appointed me and anointed me
Yet in the midst of blessings, darkness seems to follow
Father, at times, in front of the people I am high
But behind closed doors I am low
In the Spirit I'll know mysteries
But in the natural I sometimes struggle to be at ease
God I commit my dark places to you
Those places I wish for no one to see
I also ask of you to save me, deliver me and set me free
All so I can be who you have called me to be
Lord I make a decision to rise up and live
Because glory to your name I want to give
You shall deliver me and I shall rise to bless your name
As I reach for that prize
In everything I give thanks and call you Holy
Because you are God - unchanging

Oh Lord why is my house upside down? Even my own family become my worst enemy.
Sometimes when I try to do good by helping others in time of need
All they do is criticise and show no gratitude.
My own family don’t have any respect for me
So how can I show them any respect? Lord, you alone know my heart
I try not to sin against thee, but there are always obstacles in my way.
So Lord I am asking you to remove them out of my way and out of my site.
Lord, those who refuse to accept your word, put them to shame
Reveal yourself to them and let them see your glory
Lord do you know and understand what I am going through?
Yet, who am I to question you? Father give me a clean heart so that I will serve nobody but you
Lord even when I am going down you always come to my rescue; I want to say thank you Lord for being there for me
Holy Spirit I do believe, if it was not for you, I don ’t know where I would be
Lord I thank thee because, even when my friends raise up against me
This too shall pass
Because the God I serve is greater than any of my troubles
Lord I know that you will bring me through every situation
Lord when I am weary and I stumble and fail ready to give up, you came to my rescue
If you did not come to my rescue all would be lost
But the God that I serve never fails me
When I am not able to defend myself you are my defender
When I am sick you are my healer; when I am lonely you give me comfort
When I had no food, you came and provided
No words can explain what you have done for me
And how excellent you are, oh Lord my God and my King
Glory to God in the highest and peace to his people on earth
Lord you alone are the holy one and you alone are God
Lord I have sinned but I still hear you calling my name
Many times my trials get me down and its like all I am taught goes to waste
But I know it’s only to make me stronger
So I just recommit myself to you and give my all and not just a part
Glory and praise be to God in the heavenly place. Amen!

I have love for my Lord, I have love for all humanity
As I love the Lord with all my heart, soul and mind
I also have the same love for all humanity and all God's creatures on earth

When I look on all of God's creation and I don't see love
Then I look away
For God is love and I have God within
My eyes see only love which is God's gift to me

The good Lord says he is the Word and the Word is Him
He says, 'Let not your heart be troubled', so I take him at his Word
And do his commandments to the best of my ability
I will bless the Lord with all my heart, soul and mind
And all that is within me, bless His holy name
Thank you Father God for your grace and mercy towards each and every one of us
