Daphne Taylor
Born in the small town of Rugby, Warwickshire, Daphne was brought up in a full house of 4 brothers and 4 sisters. Being brought up in the church she found that from an early age God birthed in her a powerful ministry of singing. This gift was enhanced through singing with the well-known group ‘The Gospel Foundation singers’ in which she sang along with some of her sisters, cousins and close friends.
The groups’ ministry took her around the ountry ministering at local church meetings, concerts and conventions. It was at one of these conventions in Stafford in 1979 that she met her future husband Winston Taylor. After knowing each other for about 3.5 years they were married, Daphne being at the tender age of 17 years and 9 months.
Daphne, who is now a professional chef, recalls memories of financial struggles in her early married life but testifies that God brought them through and in May 1989 God also gave them their son Ashley. The joy felt on that day has at times been mixed with personal tragedy with the loss of her father, mother and youngest brother in a short space of time but the strength of the Lord has helped her to become the whole and confident woman of God she is today.
Daphne now serves as a member of the Women’s Ministries board at the New Seasons church. The women’s ministry team seeks to minister to women of all ages and nationalities, helping them to reach their full potential in God.
Daphne says: “For me, this new position of responsibility is life-changing but I certainly don’t feel I am on my own. This is God’s design for my shaping so that I can follow His precepts and walk in His strength. I would encourage all young and older women of God to seek God first. If you do this in sincerity all His blessings and favour will be yours. All things are possible when we walk in obedience. Above all, know who you are in Christ; don’t struggle trying to be somebody else; be yourself. Get to know Christ and you will, in time, learn to appreciate your past and look with excitement to your future.
